Villagers say chief must go

BOGOR (JP): At least 200 residents of Cipambuan village in Citeureup district staged a protest at the regency's Legislative Council here on Monday, demanding their village head be dismissed for alleged wrongdoing.

H.B. Lamio, a local influential figure, said the Cipambuan residents wanted H. Endang Bahrudin he made arbitrary decisions without consulting them.

"Endang, for example, has moved activities of the village office to his house and left the village office in complete disrepair."

"His other wrongdoings include his reluctance to channel the funds provided by the central government for the development of least-developed villages. He has never reported on the disbursement of funds for other village development as well," he said.

Endang also allegedly instructed the bulldozing of cassava plants cultivated by local residents on land owned by the Bukit Sentul housing complex. "I don't know why he did it. I once heard that he asked for money from residents, but his request was turned down," Lamio said. (24/ylt)
