Villager dies in a brawl

BOGOR: Daeng Sulaiman Ramli, 46, died from serious injuries after he was involved in a brawl between villagers of Cibentang and Kahuripan in Ciseeng district on Sunday at around 8 a.m.

The victim's brother, Andi Sofyan, said that the brawl started during a celebration on Saturday night. Some Cibentang villagers later escaped and hid at Daeng's house. Kahuripan villagers vandalized Daeng's house and also that of Ishak, the Cibentang village chief.

On Sunday at around 8 a.m., Daeng and others decided to make peace with his neighbors by coming to Kahuripan village. But on their way, Kahuripan villagers suddenly mobbed them. The victim could not escape and was killed by the mob.

The case is being handled by Parung Police. -- JP
