Village chief abducts woman

SERANG, Central Java: A village chief has been detained
recently for allegedly abducting a woman, Antara reported on
Saturday.

Muis Answar, a staff member at the village administration,
said that he had requested that the police release the village
chief, identified only as 42-year-old AK, because village
administration should not be left in vacuum.

"The police are more than welcomed to investigate AK to find
out whether he really committed the crime," Muis said.

AK, who is married, has allegedly married Nen, 20, in an
Islamic wedding custom in Pandeglang regency and asked her to
stay at a rented house in Carenang area. The girl's parents
accused him of abducting her and reported him to the police. (14)
