YOGYAKARTA: Vietnamese Armed Forces Chief Gen. Pham Van Tra visited the Indonesian Air Force Academy here yesterday.
Accompanied by the academy's governor, Maj. Gen. Gandhy NS, the Vietnamese general toured the campus and observed its facilities, Antara reported.
He planted a tree to mark his visit and then went on to the Buddhist Borobudur and the Hindu Prambanan temples.
Gen. Pham's visit to Yogyakarta was part of his several-day tour of Indonesia. He was accompanied by eleven high-ranking military officials from his country.
He met with Indonesian Armed Forces Commander Gen. Feisal Tanjung in Jakarta Tuesday.
Pham's visit to Indonesia was his first since Vietnam joined the Association of Southeast Asian Nations last year.
