Video game with Mao's picture

BANDAR LAMPUNG, Lampung: The provincial prosecution office is currently investigating reports that a video game containing the picture of communist Chinese leader Mao Zedong has been circulating in the area.

The authorities are also investigating reports that a book entitled Glass House, a translation of Pramoedya Ananta Toer's Rumah Kaca which has been banned by the Attorney General's office in Jakarta, is on sale in the province.

Head of political affairs at the attorney office's said yesterday that the authorities were tracing the circulation of the video game. They called on the general public to immediately report to the police if they happen to see the banned goods on sale, Antara reported.

Indonesia outlawed communism in 1966 in the wake of an abortive coup by the Indonesian Communist Party a year earlier. (03)
