Victim not our employee: Hotel

JAKARTA (JP): Management of the five-star Gran Melia Hotel in South Jakarta denied on Wednesday that the overdosed victim found dead in front of a kindergarten a day earlier was their employee.

"We have double-checked all the employee and casual help records we have and found no one under the name of Ferdinand Edwards," the hotel's public relation's senior officer, Hanum Yahya, said.

She was referring to a report run by The Jakarta Post on Tuesday, which quoted a relative of the victim who said that Ferdinand Edwards had worked at the hotel for one year.

Ferdinand, 20, was found dead from a drug overdose in front of Pejaten kindergarten in South Jakarta on Tuesday.

His body was immediately claimed by his family and taken to their hometown of Yogyakarta for burial. (bsr)
