Viagra and old age

Viagra, the pill that promises men renewed sexual energy, raises worries.

It is up to doctors to say if Viagra is dangerous, and if so, how dangerous. Once its effects are made clear, it will be up to patients to decide what risks they want to run. Viagra offers the illusion that time never ends, that seasons come and go for ever.

The ancients only knew three seasons: childhood, sexual maturity and old age. The modern world, however, distinguishes adolescence, men and women after puberty, but not yet adults. The new millennium has decided that youth should not end. Never. Viagra is really welcome, if it relieves the anguish of those who suffer from impotence. But to which point will the new medicine alter our lives?

We are ready for anything to make sure we don't seem "old men". Why deny that time passes?
