Vendors complain about kiosk cost

BOGOR (JP): Vendors at the renovated Kebon Kembang market in Bogor have complained that the Rp 60 million to Rp 100 million price tag for a new kiosk is out of their reach.

The market was gutted by fire two years ago and is being renovated by administration-appointed developer PT Propindo.

"All of my belongings were burned when the fire razed this market ... I have to start from zero. I cannot afford to buy the kiosk. It's too expensive," said market vendor Siti Maesaroh.

The market's unit chief, Komar, was unfazed by the complaints.

"They (the vendors) always say that they're penniless, but turn out to be rich as some even have five cars in their garage. I cannot tell who is poor and who is rich," he said.

The renovation is scheduled to be completed in February next year, with a market capacity for up to 3,000 vendors. (21/edt)
