Van Oel to display paintings

JAKARTA: Cemara 6 Galeri and the Amsterdam Art Metropole will jointly display the works of Dutch painter Walter van Oel at the gallery on Jl. HOS Cokroaminoto, Central Jakarta, from Feb. 8.

The painter, who was born in The Hague, the Netherlands, in 1948, will display 21 paintings until March 8. Among his works are Magic Window, Between Heaven and Earth, Micro Cosmos/Macro Cosmos and Very Holy.

Van Oel has been known as an "old generation" artist. He followed in his teacher Jan van Heel's steps by studying at the Royal Academy. Most of his works are influenced by his journeys in Tibet, China and Bali. -- JP
