Uzbekistan soccer team to arrive in Jakarta on Friday

JAKARTA (JP): The Uzbekistan soccer team arrives Friday for its Asian Zone World Cup match against Indonesia on June 1.

The Indonesian Soccer Association's secretary, Nugraha Besoes, said Monday the Uzbekistan team would be on a chartered flight from Tashkent.

"We don't know what time they will arrive or the names of the players. But I think the players will be the same as those who played against Cambodia," Nugraha said.

The game is Uzbekistan's third in World Cup qualifying Group Five. Its other matches were against Yemen in Sanaa, which it won 1-0, and against Cambodia, which it won 6-0.

Yemen leads the Group Five standings with seven points, followed by Uzbekistan on six points, Indonesia with five points and Cambodia with one point.

The Uzbekistan-Indonesia match was originally scheduled for Surabaya, East Java, but was moved to Jakarta's Senayan stadium.

Tickets for the game will cost Rp 30,000 (VIP West), Rp 15,000 (VIP East), Rp 20,000 (first class), Rp 15,000 (second class) and Rp 7,500 (third class).

Indonesia's preparation has included two trial matches. The first was against PSB Bogor which held Indonesia to a 0-0 draw. the national team then beat Mitra Surabaya 3-1.

Indonesia will play two away matches against Uzbekistan at Tashkent on June 20 and Yemen at Sanaa on June 13.

Uzbekistan will play an away match against Cambodia on June 29 and a home match against Yemen at Tashkent. (lnt)
