UT's profit drops, sales up

JAKARTA: Heavy equipment maker PT United Tractors said its first-quarter profit dropped 25 percent to Rp 48.68 billion (US$5.72 million) due to debt restructuring and weakening currency rates early this year.

However, its sales rose 15 percent to Rp 1.83 trillion from Rp 1.59 trillion in the same period in 2003. -- JP
