Used paper collection program
JAKARTA (JP): A campaign for collecting and recycling used paper has drawn a positive response from companies and individuals, an editor of a local publication said.
Editor of Aikon magazine, Ukke Kosasih, said Sunday at least nine tons of used paper had been received from eight large companies and individuals on the first day of the one-week campaign, sponsored by the magazine.
The opening of the campaign was held at Gedung Kesenian Jakarta, but will be held at different sites as well. Those who wish to join should contact Aikon at Jl. Cisanggiri V No. 8, South Jakarta, or call 7394128.
Ukke said funds from sales of recycled and used paper would be used to help finance the organization of a cultural show, the 4th Jakarta Performing Arts Theater International Festival '97, at Gedung Kesenian Jakarta playhouse next month.
Among contributors were PT Lintas Adi Krida, Van Melle, Nike and Catholic Atma Jaya University, she said.
"The volume of paper being contributed is bigger than that which was already sent to our office," she said.
Senior high school students were also among contributors.
The campaign program includes information on paper collecting, a recycling demo and a bazaar. (03)
