U.S. foundation reps visit IPB

BOGOR: Two representatives of the U.S.-based Lemelson Foundation, which develops and implements sustainable development programs for Third World countries, visited the Bogor Institute of Agriculture (IPB) on Wednesday.

Executive director Julia Novy-Hildesley and program officer Satesh Namasivayam are working with the IPB to study the correlation of their programs for developing countries with actual conditions in the field.

IPB head of intellectual property rights Krisnani Setyawati said the foundation would hold a workshop in October and invite experts to identify innovations and inventions in Indonesia and their challenges.

"We hope to work together with the foundation to publish our inventions," she said.

The Lemelson representatives will continue their tour and visit several universities, including the University of Indonesia, the Bandung Institute of Technology and Gadjah Mada University. They will also visit the National Institute of Sciences, or LIPI. -- JP
