U.S., British bombing on Iraq

I refer to The Jakarta Post's front page coverage of terrorist bombings in Sunday's edition (Feb. 18). One of the articles (U.S.,British aircraft strike near Baghdad) was especially interesting. There is only one thing the Post didn't do, and should have done: check with Iraqi authorities if the radars hit were, as I suspect, civilian radar installations serving Iraq's growing international civil air traffic, or if this was a terrorist attack against the Iraqi military.

The Post should try to give it's readers both sides of a story, and in this case we could only read what the terrorists had to say. How about the victims? President Bush's statement "Our intention is to ensure that the world is as peaceful as possible," (by delivering bombs all over the world at his liberty) is a shining example of Orwellian double-talk. But again, the question of fair reporting: do Iraqi authorities have anything to say?
