UPS launches new service

JAKARTA (JP): United States-based courier company United Parcel Service (UPS) launched on Monday an overnight delivery service between Indonesia and Sydney aimed at facilitating business between Indonesia and Australia, particularly ahead of the upcoming 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney.

PT Cardig Citra Primajasa/UPS Indonesia president Jeff Fairbairn said the overnight service to Sydney would allow Indonesian businesspeople to take advantage of the Olympic Games being held in neighboring Australia by enabling businesses to send urgent packages to Australia in the shortest possible time.

Fairbairn said the Sydney overnight service would give Indonesian businesses the flexibility to tailor make products in Indonesia, produce them and have them ready to sell in Australia using the UPS Express Service.

The service is also part of UPS' effort as a partner of the Sydney 2000 Olympics to help promote the event. (gis)
