Upi adds five points to her elo rating

JAKARTA (JP): Indonesia's International Master Upi Darmayana Tamin's elo rating has increased five points to 2,215 following her draw in the 13th and final round of the women's grandmaster chess tournament Tuesday.

Upi drew with her compatriot IM Maria Lucia in the 10th minute of the Modern opening. With the draw, Upi scored 7.0 Victory Points and increased her elo rating. If she had won the game, her score would have been 7.5 VP and her elo rating would have been 2,220.

Maria's elo rating dropped five points, from 2,260 to 2,250.

IM Lisa Lumondong, another Indonesian, made an upset draw with Grandmaster Zsuzsa Veroci of Hungary. Unfortunately the draw caused Lisa to lose 15 points from her elo rating, from 2,170 to 2,155. Lisa scored 5.0 VP.

The 13th round was won by GMs Peng Zhaoqin and Daniela Nutu- Gajic with the same score of 10.5 VPs.

Peng, a Chinese-born Dutchwoman, defeated Diah Saidah of Indonesia while Nutu-Najic of Australia also defeated another Indonesian, Sri Vidawati.

Final results: Lisa vs Zsuzsa 0.5-0.5, Peng vs Diah 1-0, GM Nana Alexandria (Georgia) vs Imasniti 1-0, IM Nguyen Thi Thuan Hoa (Vietnam) vs Darmayanti Tamin 1-0, Maria vs Upi 0.5-0.5 and Sri vs Nutu-Gajic 0-1.

Rankings: Peng and Nutu-Gajic 10.5 VP, Nana 9.5 VP, Zsuzsa 8.0 VP, Upi and Thuan Hoa 7.0 VP, FM Angela Khegai (Uzbekistan) 6.5 VP, Maria 5.5 VP, Lisa 5.0 VP, Darmayanti and Sri 3.0 VP, and Diah 1.0 VP. (lnt)
