Universities welcome campaigns

SEMARANG: Four universities in Semarang are ready to host
political campaigns during the three-week electoral campaign
period starting on Thursday, a poll official said on Tuesday.

They are Walisongo State Islamic Institute, Tujuh Belas
Agustus University, PGRI Teachers' College and Sultan Agung
Islamic University.

"I have contacted the rectors of the four universities and
they say their campuses are ready to host campaigns," said Ari
Pradhanawati, a member of Semarang General Elections Commission
(KPUD).

Other universities, such as the University of Semarang,
Soegijapranata Catholic University and Semarang Muhammadiyah
University, have refused to host campaigns by political parties,
