UNICEF to award three RI children
JAKARTA: The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the Office of the State Minister for Women's Empowerment jointly announced on Thursday the bestowing of awards on three Indonesian high school students for their roles in promoting the rights of Indonesian children.
The recipients of the awards are Bella Diniyah Putri, a junior high school student from Lampung; Ady Juanda, a junior high school student from Padang, West Sumatra; and Asti Utami, a senior high school student from Palembang, South Sumatra.
UNICEF said in a press statement that President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono would present the awards to the children on July 24 at a ceremony to commemorate 2005 National Children's Day.
The three winners were selected from 65 children proposed by various organizations. -- JP
