Unhalu admits Ambon students
KENDARI, Southeast Sulawesi: State-run Haluoleo University (Unhalu) here has admitted 40 Pattimura University students who fled the riot-torn Maluku capital of Ambon.
The university's head of education and information services, La Otjo Oti, confirmed over the weekend the students would be allowed to complete their studies at the institution.
Oti said 28 of the students were registered at the School of Teacher Training, and six apiece at the School of Social and Political Sciences and School of Economics.
Most are still in the early part of their studies, he added.
Students will be exempted from registration fees and allowed to pay their school fees in installments.
"We are also considering scholarships for the students in order to encourage them to return to school and help them study in peace," Oti was quoted by Antara as saying.
