UN offers fellowship
JAKARTA: The UN division for ocean affairs and the law of the
sea is accepting Indonesians' applications for its annual
Hamilton Shirley Amerasinghe Fellowship on the law of the sea.
The fellowship was established by the UN General Assembly on
Dec. 10, 1981, in recognition of late Hamilton Shirley
Amerasinghe's contribution as the president of the 3rd UN
Conference on the Law of the Sea.
The fellowship is intended to enable qualified government
officials, research fellows or law of the sea specialists to
acquire additional knowledge about the Law and its wider
application.
The UN Information Center in Jakarta said the fellowship will
be awarded by the end of this year and implemented next year.
