UN envoy visits TNBBS

BANDAR LAMPUNG: A United Nations envoy, Peter Hitcock, arrived here on Friday to explore the possibility of declaring the Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park (TNBBS) in Lampung province a world heritage site, an official said.

"He is slated to visit the park on the weekend," the head of the park, Tamen Sitorus, said on Saturday.

He added that a colleague was initially meant to accompany Hitcock, but health reasons had prevented him from coming.

The result ofHitcock's visit is expected to be conveyed to the UN next June for consideration in naming the park a world heritage site. --Antara
