UMNO youths visit House

JAKARTA: A delegation of Malaysian young people from the United Malays National Organization (UMNO) visited the House of Representatives here on Thursday to help boost ties between young people in Malaysia and Indonesia.

House deputy speaker Zainal Maarif received the Malaysian delegation, which was headed by deputy UMNO youth wing chairman Mohd. Hasnol Datuk Ayub.

Zainal said the issue of choking haze from Indonesia was not specifically discussed during the meeting, but he urged the government to take all possible measures to prevent forest fires from spreading, as acrid haze resulting from the fires had affected neighboring countries.

"What will our neighbors say if we cannot deal with the fire?" said Zainal. -- JP
