UKI opens new school

The Indonesian Christian University (UKI) will launch its
school of social and political sciences this month, marking the
beginning of the new 1994/95 academic year.

UKI announced yesterday that it had obtained the permit from
the Ministry of Education and Culture to offer undergraduate
degree courses for students intending to major in international
relations, communications studies and public administration
studies.

The new school will be headed by Dean SM Simarangkir.

At the launching ceremony scheduled for Nov. 9, retired Navy
Vice Admiral FM Parapat will present an oration entitled The
politics of security and defense and national strategy.

UKI, a prominent private university operating from its campus
in Cawang, East Jakarta, currently has six schools: a school of
law, school of pedagogy, medical school, technical school, school
of economics and a school of letters.

Rector K Tunggul Sirait said he hopes that in the near future,
UKI will expand the number of degrees offered at the Technical
College.

UKI also plans to offer more postgraduate degrees at the
school of education and a diploma program at the economic
school.(22)
