UKI opens new school
The Indonesian Christian University (UKI) will launch its school of social and political sciences this month, marking the beginning of the new 1994/95 academic year.
UKI announced yesterday that it had obtained the permit from the Ministry of Education and Culture to offer undergraduate degree courses for students intending to major in international relations, communications studies and public administration studies.
The new school will be headed by Dean SM Simarangkir.
At the launching ceremony scheduled for Nov. 9, retired Navy Vice Admiral FM Parapat will present an oration entitled The politics of security and defense and national strategy.
UKI, a prominent private university operating from its campus in Cawang, East Jakarta, currently has six schools: a school of law, school of pedagogy, medical school, technical school, school of economics and a school of letters.
Rector K Tunggul Sirait said he hopes that in the near future, UKI will expand the number of degrees offered at the Technical College.
UKI also plans to offer more postgraduate degrees at the school of education and a diploma program at the economic school.(22)
