UKI clarifies

The Information Management Team of the Indonesian Christian University (UKI) deems it necessary to clarify a news report in The Jakarta Post of Dec. 31, 1998, concerning incidents occurring on Dec. 17 and Dec. 18, 1998, at the UKI campus in Cawang and its surrounding areas.

1. The Senayan and Cawang incidents, which occurred on Dec. 17, 1998, in which scores of students were wounded by a group of members of security apparatuses/forces, and another incident on Dec. 18, 1998, in which Armed Forces members suffered violent acts committed by a group of people claiming to be students, were the continuation of a series of incidents occurring earlier.

2. These incidents involved a group of students hailing from various universities, namely As'syafiah University, Sahid University, Gunadarma University, Mpu Tantular University, Borobudur University, STEI Gidion, STEI Nusantara, STMIK, APP, ABA/ABI, AK.Tek. Sapta Taruna, AMIK-BSI, IISIP, ISTN, UKI and AP- YUKI.
