UK societies donate milk

JAKARTA (JP): Members of the Jakarta branches of four British societies distributed milk to infants at a health service post in Cibubur, East Jakarta, on Saturday.

British Ambassador Robin Christopher attended the charity event held by the Royal Society of St George, Yorkshire Society, St Patrick Society and Java St Andrews Society.

The societies, which has raised over Rp 15 million, were concerned about the raising cost of basic foodstuffs that means less mothers would be able to buy milk for their children.

"This initiative was so successful and so gratefully received that we decided to expand our efforts by inviting other UK societies to join us," said a member of the Royal Society of St George.
