Ujungpandang pilot project

UJUNGPANDANG, South Sulawesi: Mayor Malik B. Masry has
disclosed that the city has been chosen for a pilot project in
regional autonomy at the provincial capital level.

The project will begin in April, Masry said after meeting with
legislative council members to discuss the plan, Antara reported
yesterday.

The central government would entrust the municipality to
autonomously handle seven affairs: forestry, public works, the
mining and excavation of certain minerals, tourism, traffic and
road transportation and manpower and housing, he said.
