Ujungkulon park tightens security

PANDEGLANG, West Java: Authorities in Ujungkulon national park are intensifying supervision of visitors to better protect the reserve.

A spokesman for the park, Agoes Sriyanto, said yesterday that in the near future visitors would be required to register, fill in forms and submit their ID cards.

Foreign tourists will be required to leave their passports with security guards at the park's gate, the Antara news agency reported.

He said the new policy was taken after the authorities noticed a rise in petty theft and vandalism in the park. (pwn)
