UI promotes new professor

H. Loebby Loqman is scheduled to be promoted to the rank of professor at the College of Law of the University of Indonesia today.

The promotion ceremony will be held at the university's campus in Depok, where Loqman will deliver a speech entitled Presumption of Innocence in Mass Media Reporting.

Loebby Loqman was born in Surabaya on Oct. 14, 1935. He finished his elementary and junior high school education in Surabaya before moving to Jakarta to continue his education at a senior high school.

In 1967 he graduated from the College of Law of the University of Indonesia. He earned a postgraduate degree in 1984 and his doctorate degree in 1990 after defending a dissertation entitled The Analysis of Law and Legislation of Crime towards National Security in Indonesia.

Loebby and his wife Timoe have six children. He is one of the 14 professors to be named by the University of Indonesia up to now. (22)
