UI now has School of Cultural Sciences
JAKARTA: The University of Indonesia's School of Letters announced on Saturday a change in its name to the School of Cultural Sciences.
According to lecturer Junaedi, people always connect the old name with language studies only, whereas the school offers arts, history and philosophy courses.
There is no significant change in its curriculum.
"Parents usually do not want to see their children entering the School of Literature as they think that the children will only get language skills," said Junaedi.
The School of Cultural Sciences accommodates about 3,000 students in its 14 departments offering bachelor degrees, eight departments for nondegree courses and one post graduate department.--JP
