UI gets $13,000 grant from OGFICE
DEPOK: The University of Indonesia (UI) received a US$13,000 grant from the Osaka Gas Foundation of International Culture Exchange (OGFICE) on Wednesday.
The money will be used to finance four natural gas research projects run by the university.
OGFICE, which was established in 1992, donated a total of $39,000 for 12 research projects by the University of Indonesia, the Bandung Institute of Technology and the Bogor Institute of Agriculture.
The foundation also donated Rp 200 million (US$23,530) for equipment and Rp 294 million for scholarships for students in East Kalimantan and Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam.
UI deputy rector Sutanto Soehodho told The Jakarta Post the university had an annual budget of between Rp 800 million ($94,118) and Rp 1 billion to finance research work.
"But the figure is not enough. Therefore we thank the OGFICE and hope that one day we can finance our research on our own," he said. -- JP
