UGM assistance for tuition fees

YOGYAKARTA: State-run Gadjah Mada University (UGM) has given partial scholarships to some 4,500 students, who have been affected by the economic crisis, to help pay their tuition fees, rector Ichlasul Amal said on Saturday.

The money had been collected from various donations, including alumni of the university. Last year, the university gave partial scholarships to 3,693 students.

The university has also offered hard-pressed students with financial assistance to cover their living expenses and to purchase some equipment for their studies. (44/01)
