U-11 league kicks off in August

JAKARTA: Some 176 teams from soccer schools and elementary schools in Java and Bali will take part in the U-11 Lifebuoy Shampoo League, from Aug. 3 to Oct. 30.

The competition will be staged Jakarta, Bogor, Tangerang, Bekasi, Bandung, Greater Bandung, Semarang, Solo, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Sidoarjo and Denpasar, with Surabaya to host the grand final.

With the participants all being under 11, the competition uses a pitch measuring 40 meters x 60 meters and smaller goals, with each game lasting 30 minutes. The teams consist of seven players, instead of the normal 11.

Minister of National Education Abdul Malik Fadjar is scheduled to officially open the competition on Sunday at the Pertamina soccer pitch in Simprug, South Jakarta. -- JP
