Two women go blind for two days

MAUMERE, East Nusa Tenggara: Two student nurses on work
experience at Hilers Maumere hospital went blind last week for
two days after they unwittingly entered the X-ray room.

They read for 30 minutes in the x-ray room's light. Both women
regained their sight Tuesday night as doctors were considering
sending them to hospital in Ujungpandang, South Sulawesi.

Hospital head Henyo Kerong said this was the first time this
had happened at the hospital.

The two student nurses have recovered but remain under medical
supervision and must wear glasses. (yac/01)
