Two water tank trucks prepared

BOGOR (JP): Bogor city-owned water company PDAM has prepared two tanker trucks to supply water to residents in areas severely hit by the current dry season, an official said Saturday.

Daslim Saibi, president of the company, said the two trucks, each with a capacity of 3,000 liters, would be ready as soon as they were needed.

But the water is not free of charge. Residents would have to pay Rp 27,000 (US$10.54) per truck, he said.

"Up until now, however, not a single request has been made," he said, adding that those in need of water should notify the company by phone.

The long dry season has severely affected many areas, including Baranangsiang, Cimanggu, Kedungbadak, Sukadamai, Bantarjati and Bantarkemang, he said.

Despite the long drought, however, some water pumps were still working so neighbors could share water with each other. (24/hhr)
