Two try selling drugs to police

JAKARTA (JP): Undercover police officers have arrested two young men on Jl. Juanda, Central Jakarta, for selling 380 Ecstasy pills.

City Police Spokesman Lt. Col. E. Aritonang said the two men, identified as Suryanto Ahmad, 24, and Dodi, 24, were arrested at about 8 p.m. Thursday.

"The suspects offered the pills to the officers, who immediately arrested them," he said.

He said 280 of the 380 pills were "Butterfly" pills, the others were "XO" pills.

He said each pill was estimated to be worth about Rp 50,000 (US$14.20) on the black market.

Suryanto is a resident of Jl. Krukut Pasar in Tamansari district, West Jakarta, while Dodi is a resident of Mangga Besar area, West Jakarta. (jun)
