Two trawlers impounded

JAKARTA: The Navy's fleet which oversees security in the western region has impounded two Malaysian trawlers near Aruah Island in the Straits of Malacca.

The two trawlers, according to a navy spokesman, Lt. Col. J. Gustaf, were fishing in Indonesian waters without official documents.

Each trawler was carrying two tons of fish when they were caught, he said on Saturday.

The boats together with their captains identified as Ahwing and Kee You Swat and six crew members are being detained at the Dumai police precinct. (prs)
