Two teenage drug traffickers nabbed

JAKARTA (JP): Police detectives from the Pasar Minggu Police subprecinct apprehended on Thursday two alleged shabu-shabu (crystal methamphetamine) traffickers on Jl. Purbaya in South Jakarta, a police report said.

The report said fresh high school graduates Fuadi and Mulyadi, both 19, were caught with 19 packages of shabu-shabu, 15 of which belonged to Mulyadi.

"We got the drugs from a dealer Subagyo and sell them at Rp 20,000 (US$3) per package," said Mulyadi.

"We earn a Rp 5,000 profit per package."

One gram of shabu-shabu can be distributed between 10 to 20 packages. An individual package is usually used by two to four addicts.

"This enables drug addicts to save their money, a practice known as pahe or paket hemat (economy package).

"We used a girl as bait to trap the two traffickers," said a local police detective. (05)
