Two murdered in hotel room

JAKARTA (JP): North Jakarta Police detectives are investigating the murder of two men in Ancol Hotel on Jl. RE Martadinata in Pademangan district on Sunday.

City police spokesman Supt. Zainuri Lubis identified the two men as Hatama Rasyid, 35, a resident of Jl. Tekun in Kelapa Gading, and Agung, 30, a resident of Rias Estate housing complex in Tambun, Bekasi. They both had been stabbed in the neck.

"The North Jakarta Police have questioned a number of people at the hotel, but are still waiting for some serious answers," Zainuri said.

Hotel receptionist Yulia Karangtri said that Agung was still alive but in critical condition when found in the hotel room.

"Agung was pronounced dead on arrival at Husada Hospital in North Jakarta," Yulia said.

Separately, the corpse of a woman in her 20s was found in Kalimalang River in Kampung Melayu, East Jakarta, at 10:30 p.m. on Saturday by a Kampung Melayu resident identified as Umrik.

"The case is being handled by the Makassar Police of Kampung Melayu. No signs of abuse were found on the corpse," Zainuri said. (ylt)
