Two more die on toll road

BEKASI, West Java (JP): The driver and a passenger of a Toyota Kijang van died at 3:00 a.m. yesterday when the van tipped over on the Cikampek-Jakarta toll road in Bekasi Timur.

A local police officer said a blow-out is believed to have caused the accident.

Police records say the van was carrying a family of six from Bukit Duri, South Jakarta. They were returning from the wedding of a relative in Yogyakarta.

The 30-year-old driver, Betan Ismail, and eight-year-old Nia M. Lintonia died. The father, Budiman, the mother, Rulini, and two of their other children, Galih and Diah, are in hospital with serious injuries.

This is the second fatal crash on the Cikampek-Jakarta tollroad in four days. Last Saturday a similar accident claimed three lives and seriously injured eight others. (kod/sur)
