Two killed in ferryboat accident

PALU, Central Sulawesi: A ferryboat packed with 40 passengers and crew sank on Thursday afternoon in Tomini Gulf, Central Sulawesi, leaving two passengers dead and another missing.

Central Sulawesi Police chief Brig. Gen. Aryanto Sutadi said on Friday that the boat sank while it was on its way to Ampana, the capital of Tojo Una-Una regency, from the Togean Islands. Bad weather has been blamed for the accident.

The police are continuing their search for the missing person, who has been identified as Ismet Ponulele, 45. -- JP
