Two killed in clash in Aceh

BANDA ACEH, Aceh: Two people were killed in Aceh during the
latest clash between separatist rebels and security forces.

Sgt. Hastam Budi and an unnamed civilian were killed as
security forces and rebels exchanged fire in the Matangkuli area
of North Aceh district on Tuesday, local military chief Lt. Col.
Suyanto said.

Suyatno said the civilian was killed by a stray bullet.

Free Aceh Movement (GAM) rebel spokesman Ismail Syahputra,
however, claimed that 31 members of the security force were
killed in the fight. (50/edt)
