Two injured in a brawl

JAKARTA: Two men were injured and five houses were destroyed in a brawl at Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, early Monday.

The clash between residents of the community unit (RW) 5 and 17 was triggered by some boys from RW 17 who were angry after they were not allowed to borrow a skateboard from a boy at RW 5, said Sardi, a 45-year-old witness.

Around 50 boys from RW 17 then destroyed five houses at the RW 5 triggering the brawl between both units residents until around 3 a.m.

Sr and Tg, who wanted to stop the brawl, were injured but their condition was fine after receiving medical treatment at the Cipto Mangunkusumo Central Hospital.

Residents just stopped the brawl after 20 policemen of the Tanah Abang subprecinct were deployed and fired a warning shot to the fighting residents. -- Antara
