Two infants die at hands of fathers

SEMARANG (JP): Two infants from different families have died
after allegedly being abused by their fathers.

Amtama Murata, 2, was beaten to death by his 41-year-old
father in a rented room in Banjarsari village, Solo. Solo police
chief Lt. Col. Imam Suwangsa said Friday the suspect, identified
as Her, may have been under stress from being jobless and was
facing a divorce. Her was still under questioning. Imam was
quoted as saying the suspect regretted the beating of his son,
which he said came about because the child cried every day.

Also on Wednesday Imam Santosa, 5, died at his house in
Wonorejan village in Pemalang district. Pemalang police chief Lt.
Col. Isnarno said Friday that the 35-year-old suspect Bam beat
his son to death with a rattan cane after the boy spilled water
on the mattress.

Isnarno said this suspect was also jobless. (har)
