Two-headed infant dies in Aceh

LHOKSEUMAWE, Aceh: A severely deformed baby -- with two heads, three arms and a cleft palate -- died yesterday, 28 hours after she was born Sunday, Antara reported.

Doctor Hanafiah Hasan assisted in the child's birth at the Bunda Maternity Hospital here and led efforts to save the baby girl's life.

The parents were identified only as EMT, 28, and HSB, 30.

Hanafiah said the mother was originally a patient of a local midwife who referred her to the local hospital after it was found that the fetus was deformed. (swe)
