Two die in horrific motorcycle accident

Two motorcyclists -- identified as Rizky, 25, and Prayitno, 22 -- died gruesome deaths from burns after the gas tank of Prayitno's motorcycle exploded following a crash on Jl. Pajajaran Pamulang, Tangerang, on Wednesday.

Rizky, a Pamulang resident, was riding his Yamaha Jupiter motorcycle, with Nurcholis as a pillion passenger, after visiting a friend at the Fatmawati Hospital, South Jakarta.

Witnesses said Rizky was speeding as he attempted to overtake a minibus on a bend in the road. From the opposite direction, Prayitno was riding his Yamaha RX King motorcycle, with Norman and Chaeruddin as pillion passengers.

The two motorcycles collided, catapulting Chaeruddin a few meters through the air. He only suffered minor injuries, however.

The other four found themselves trapped on the ground between the motorcycles. Seconds later, the gas tank of the Yamaha RX King exploded.

Ricky and Prayitno died instantly at the scene, while Nurcholis sustained severe burns. He is now being treated at the Fatmawati Hospital. Norman was earlier released from the hospital as his burns were not severe.

Pamulang Police reported that the RX King was completely destroyed. They also said that Prayitno could not be identified at first due to the severity of his burns. --JP
