Two die in fire in Buleleng
DENPASAR, Bali: A brother and sister died in a fire when their house was burned by angry mobs in Tejakula village, Buleleng, on Saturday.
The victims, identified as Nyoman Suweca, 90, and Ketut Tunas, 77, were trapped in the house, according to Buleleng Police chief Lt. Col. M. Nasseer Amir.
Police questioned 10 witnesses and have identified suspects in the incident. "We will net the perpetrators soon," Nasseer said.
Family members of the victims, owner Ketut Myasa and Ketut's children Sariani and Mertawan were able to flee the house.
"For the past three years, nearby residents have been mocking us ... accusing my family of raising a bererong (spirit)," Ketut said. Losses in the fire were estimated at Rp 80 million. (50/edt)
