Two dead after head-on collision

LARANTUKA, East Nusa Tenggara: Two people were killed and six others suffered minor injuries when a public intercity bus crashed with a truck in the village of Nobo, Wulang Gitang district, on Wednesday.

Local residents, who evacuated the injured passengers, said both drivers of the vehicles fled the scene shortly after the collision took place.

Witnesses said the public bus, which plied the Ende to Larantuka route, was traveling at high speed when a truck suddenly appeared from the opposite direction on the narrow road.

Apparently, both drivers were unable to control the speed of their vehicles and they collided head-on.
