Two bodies found
JAKARTA (JP): Two bodies were found in West and North Jakarta over the weekend, police said yesterday.
In West Jakarta, the decomposing corpse of a man, believed to be a victim of the recent riots, was found by residents on Jl. K.H. Mas Mansyur.
Dai Manuhutu, 36, was found on the second floor of a burned- out building after those living nearby noticed a foul odor.
"We believe that he was trapped during the burning spree. We've tried to contact some of his friends based on what neighbors told us," an officer of Tambora Police subprecinct said.
In North Jakarta, police and residents found the body of a businessman identified as Tjun Kwet Tjun, 48, on Friday night in a Kijang van at Cakalang Ancol Beach.
City police spokesman Lt. Col. E. Aritonang said the man's body was found by residents alongside his girlfriend, Saimah, 36, who was unconscious.
The couple were found in the front seats of the car, he said.
"The victim's body had already turned blue. His girlfriend said that he probably died of a heart attack. But we have to wait for the postmortem results."
One of the residents who found the body, Cecep, told police that the victim probably ran out of oxygen or suffered carbon- monoxide poisoning.
"Many couples die while making love inside cars along this beach," he told the police. (edt)
