Twin couples into record book
Twin couples into record book
YOGYAKARTA (JP): The Indonesian Museum of Records maintained
its status as the key reference of oddities in the country when
it accepted into its records yesterday twins who married their
twin partners.
Ikawati Handayani wedded her martial arts schoolmate Suhardi,
while her twin sister Dwiyani Handaniwati married Suhardi's twin
brother Suharjo after six years of an up-and-down relationship.
They celebrated their rare wedding yesterday at Gabusan Art
Center, 10 kilometers south of here.
"The two couples are the first of their kind, as far as our
records are concerned," the museum's manager Paulus Pangka told
The Jakarta Post.
The couples are about the same age. Ikawati was born on March
2, 1972, a few minutes before her sister. Suhardi and Suharjo
were born on Christmas Eve.
With the latest entry, the museum has now collected 295 (odd)
records since its foundation by humorist and traditional herbal
tycoon Jaya Suprana in 1991.
The museum does not say anything, however, about how Ikawati
and Dwiyani identify their respective husbands and vice versa.
Nobody knows that except them. (swa)
