TVs reward for catching killer
AMBON, Maluku: Chief of the Maluku Provincial Police Col. F. Isnawan awarded 20-inch color TVs to six residents of the Wondei village for catching a man who allegedly murdered a family of five, the Antara news agency reported.
The murder took place in the Namlea subdistrict on May 26.
Dion Nurlatu, one of the six recipients, said they caught the alleged murderer by accident in a forest near Wondei. Although they were not acquainted with the fugitive, an announcement from the police caused them to report his whereabouts.
The accused was armed with two knives and three long spears. The six villagers gently coaxed him into putting down his weapons. (pwn)
